Hace como mes y medio emprendí el viaje más emocionante e interesante que he hecho hasta la fecha en mi vida. Todo empezó desde que decidí participar en una convocatoria para participar en el 100 aniversario de Taiwan, y tener la oportunidad de ir a conocer este bello país. Obviamente les debo confesar que hubo ciertos momentos en que creí que no me seleccionarían, pero nada perdía con probar. Y fue en Mayo cuando recibí la grata sorpresa que efectivamente me habían seleccionado junto con dos personas más de Guatemala (Gerson y David, que ahora los considero como mis amigos :-)).
Mi emoción fue total, no lo podía creer, iba a viajar al otro lado del mundo, conocer a 249 personas más de otras partes del mundo, conocer otras culturas, conocer sobre la historia de Taiwan, su gente, su comida, etc. etc. Realmente fue una de las mejores noticias que me han dado en la vida. Por ello en primer lugar le agradezco infinitamente a los organizadores de The Republic of China (Taiwna) International Youth Week --Centennial Homestay (SayTaiwan), ya que gracias a ellos, yo junto con los demás participantes tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer esté país, donde creo que a la mayoría nos dejo sin palabras, ya que fue una gran experiencia.
También agradezco a mi hostfamily, Michael y Grace que se portaron de una manera tan increíble conmigo, que nunca se los dejaré de agradecer :-) yo ahora los considero como mi familia, les tengo un gran cariño, y espero que en el futuro los pueda llegar a visitar nuevamente. Al igual que ya saben que las puertas de mi casa en Guatemala siempre estarán abiertas, y que espero que algún día puedan venir y conocer mi país.
A continuación les pongo las fotos de mi travesía a Taiwan. Estas son desde que entre al aeropuerto de Guatemala hasta el primer día de llegada a Taiwan. Fue un viaje agotador pero bien valió la pena. El viaje, solo el vuelo, duro 24 horas, más las horas que tuvimos que esperar en los aeropuertos. Digo "tuvimos" porque en el aeropuerto de Panama tuve la suerte de encontrarme con Lourdes (de Panama), Cindy, Marce y Gaby (de Ecuador). Al llegar a Amsterdam nos encontramos con otras participantes, entre ellas Ross (de Peru), Selom y Sam (de Inglaterra), Amalia (de Grecia), Veronica (de Italia), Mark (de Bolivia), y Carlos y Marcos (de Paraguay). Para mi Cindy, Marce, Gaby y Ross las considero ahora como muy buenas amigas, los viajes con ustedes estuvieron bien alegres :-) y espero que nos volvamos a juntar (en serio he!). Al igual a los demás que mencioné aquí, y tuve la oportunidad de hablar, también les quiero decir que me cayeron muy bien, y espero que nos volvamos a ver, ya sea en otro país, o de repente donde ustedes viven o si quieren llegar algún día a Guatemala, ya saben que son bienvenidos y yo los llevo a donde quieran ir a conocer :-)

About a month and a half ago I started the most exciting and interesting trip I have ever made in my life. It all began when I decided to participate in an open call to participate in the 100th anniversary of Taiwan, and have the opportunity to go a visit this beautiful country. Obviously I must confess that there were certain times that I thought I wouldn’t be selected, but I didn’t waste anything by trying. An it was in May when I found the pleasant surprise that I was selected with two other people from Guatemala (Gerson and David, which I now consider them as my friends J).
Mi excitement was huge, I couldn’t believe it, I was going to travel to the other side of the world, meet 249 people from other parts of the world, know other cultures, know more about the history of Taiwan, its people, the food, etc. etc. It was really one of the best news I have ever got in my life. That’s why first of all, I would like to thank deeply to the organizers of The Republic of China (Taiwan) International Youth Week –Centennial Homestay (SayTaiwan), because thanks to them, me and the other participants were so lucky to have the chance to see Taiwan, were most of us were left speechless by this experience, because it was really great.
I also want to thank my hostfamily, Michael and Grace, you were amazing with me, and that is something that I will never stop thanking you J I now consider you as part of my family, I’m really fond of you, and I hope that in the future I can go back to visit you. And you also know that you are very welcome to como to my house in Guatemala, and I hope that someday you can come and visit my country.
So now I want to show you some of my pictures that I took in Taiwan. These ones are from the beginning of my trip, from the Guatemala airport to my arrival at Taiwan (the first day in Taiwan). It was an exhausting trip but it was worth it. The trip, just the flight, lasted 24 hours, plus the hours that we had to wait at the airports. I’m saying “we” because in the Panama airport I had the luck of finding other participants, Lourdes (from Panama), Cindy, Marce and Gaby (from Ecuador). When we arrived at Amsterdam airport we found other participants, among them was Ross (from Peru), Selom and Sam (from England), Amalia (from Greece), Veronica (from Italy), Mark (from Bolivia), and Carlos and Marcos (from Paraguay). For me, Cindy, Marce, Gaby and Ross I now consider you as really good friends, the trips I made with you were really great and we were really happy J and I hope that we meet again (I really mean it!). Also, to the other people I mentioned here and that I had the opportunity to talk, I also want you to know that I really enjoyed knowing you, and I also consider you as great people. I hope we can see each other again, maybe in another country, or were you live, or if someday you want to visit Guatemala. You know that you are welcome here, and if you come I can take you wherever you want J
